Poems 2021

*Wishing*

When you wish upon a star,
remember,
stars are only balls of seething gas
so far away that
wishes will take light-years to be heard,
let alone to be answered.
Wishes might even be made on the not there.

Would you wish on a cloud?
On a raindrop?
Maybe the stone in a stream bed?
They would at least hear you
in a timely way.

*Hurricane*

If the butterfly wing
can create the hurricane,
can a longing sigh
create love?

*To Follow*

The gray dulling
of the Autumn
seems reason enough
for a Spring to follow.
Just as cicadas
foretell the snow.

*Remembering*

Let me enjoy my memories.
Just as a younger person
has their dreams, I have
what I’ve dreamt.

I have a dream or two left,
I just hope
I have the time for them
to become memories.
