2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 c. onion, chopped
1/4 c. celery, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
8 oz tomato sauce
6 oz. tomato paste
2 Tbsp parmesan cheese
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. fennel seed
Melt butter with oil. Sauté onion, celery, and garlic until soft. Add tomato sauce and paste and stir. Add other ingredients to pan. Bring to slow simmer for 30-60 minutes. Remove bay leaf.
